Title IX compliance is mutli-faceted and includes a school district's response to reports of sexual harassment and gender-equity in athletics. Title IX for athletics addresses the important role athletics plays in both of these areas. With respect to sexual harassment, the course provides an overview of the new Title IX regulations, the definition of sexual harassment and when it occurs within the school's program or activity, and the vital role athletics plays in the prevention of sexual harassment - including the intersection of bullying, hazing and sexual harassment. The course also discusses evaluating gender-equity in athletics utilizing OCR's three-part test. Finally, the course provides a brief discussion of litigation trends with transgender students and student-athletes in access to facilities and in competition. Title IX for athletics is appropriate for Athletic Directors, coaches, athletics staff, school leadership, Title IX Coordinators and any other personnel that interface with athletics and Title IX compliance.
