Prerequisite: Title IX Introduction and Overview
This course is designed for appellate decision-makers participating in the Title IX grievance process, in compliance with the training requirements under the 2020 Title IX regulations. Whether reviewing the dismissal of a Formal Complaint or a Determination of Responsibility, appellate decision-makers must understand their distinct role in ensuring fairness, consistency, and adherence to policy. This course covers the scope and responsibilities of appellate review, permissible grounds for appeal, how to evaluate the "record," and best practices for issuing decisions. Participants will receive practical tools including flowcharts, checklists, and downloadable resources to support their work. The course concludes with a knowledge assessment and certificate of completion. Completion of Title IX Introduction and Overview is required prior to enrollment.
